Albert Jay Nock was an American essayist, social critic, and editor known for his defense of individual liberty and his skepticism toward expanding state power and mass institutions. He edited The Freeman in the 1920s and wrote on education, politics, culture, Henry George, Jefferson, and Rabelais.
